Another standalone charity shop post, and another post about one of the charity shops run by Crisis, the charity that helps homeless people and fights homelessness though research and campaigns.

After Archway, Elephant & Castle, at the end of the Bakerloo line. Like its Archway sibling, it’s a great place to visit for bargains, treasures and unique finds.

It has a very similar vibe to the Archway location, with scaffolding pipes and wood shelves, and the space is even larger than the Archway one, I think. It has more plants, too, and they look real enough, so I wonder how the watering works out… (some of them are right at the top of the shelves).

It’s strong on clothes (including some vintage), décor items and books. Here and there, corners have been used to display nice little grouping of whatever goes well together. The whole store is bright, clean and very well-organised. For the weary shoppers, there are chairs scattered about; a nice touch, that.

Another nice touch is that they give space to arts students from the nearby UAL London College of Communication, with dedicated window and wall displays, especially around the end of the academic year. How cool is that?

All in all, one of the nicest thrifting experiences around…

Where to go from there?

There’s more thrifting to be had in Battersea, Pimlico and Kingston upon Thames.

Alternatively, the South Bank is only two stops away and is a lovely area to explore, and either the Bakerloo or the Northern Line will take you there. Or stay on the Bakerloo line until Marylebone, and visit Alfie’s Antique Market. Or you could stay on the Northern Line and visit the Shop from Crisis Archway branch.

Or why not pop into G Baldwin & Co a few doors away and stock up on herbal tea and other goodies?

And a little bit further afield, there are many, many reasons to visit Herne Hill, two stops down on the train.
