Italo deli is a delightful deli in one of the most enchanting corners of London, Bonnington Square in Vauxhall.

The kitchen has a small menu of scrumptious, inventive dishes with an Italian slant, as well as sandwiches on fluffy rosemary focaccia. There’s a smattering of tables inside, a few more outside, and there’s some seating in the idyllic surroundings of Bonnington Square Pleasure gardens just across the road.
The shop is packed with a lovingly curated selection of foodstuff, mostly Italian (obviously…). They also stock offerings from small local producers such as borage honey from the London Honey Company or sourdough breads from the Snapery Bakery.
Cool vibe, too: homely paintings hang on raw brick walls, and leaflets and posters advertise community activities in the area. One of London’s hidden gems, for sure.
And they produce a little printed booklet/ newsletter that cover happenings from around the square (community spirit at its finest), as well as highlighting noteworthy products on their shelves. No wonder the Financial Times crowned them one of the 50 greatest food stores in the world.
You know who else does huge sandwiches on focaccia bread? The Dusty Knuckle bakery, that’s who! And Dom’s Subs sandwiches are pretty awesome too.
